Do I need to pay for shipping?
Maybe, it depends on the ship address.
Once the campaign has ended we will send out the surveys to complete. At this time, you an enter your where your order will be shipped to and any shipping fees, import duties, customs, and taxes will be calculated and collected.
US customers receive our free ground shipping because the minimal order is over the $98 free shipping threshold. International customers there are shipping and import fees calculated at checkout based on where you want us to ship your order.
Last updated: September 26, 2024 09:39
How are taxes calculated?
Before we ship your order we will send you a Kickstarter survey to complete your order. Here is where you enter your shipping details and our site will calculate any applicable tax and shipping fees.
For US customers there could be local state and city taxes. For International customers there could be import fees and local taxes.

What standard is the outside edge of the cage
- NATO STANG 4694. Its the same NATO rail that you see for all kinds of accessories across many industries
- The bottom of the cage is “Arca-Swiss”. You can drop the cage into a tripod that has an Arca-Swiss head on it.
- You want to look for an Arca-Swiss head that is open on the ends and not restricted to plate length as the cage will pass all the way through

Can I hook my “random thing” to it?
If its NATO or uses a thread then there is probably a way

How secure is the phone clamp?
Super duper secure. Approximately 2.5KG of spring force
Last updated: September 26, 2024 09:02
Can I swap out the phone clamp for another clamp?
Probably not. Most phone clamps attach from the bottom using a 1/4-20 screw. Because we have a hub in the bottom of our cage and we haven’t yet figured out how to break the laws of physics, we decided to mount our clamp from the top. Reach out if you can solve the physics issue and if you don’t believe in perpetual motion. (You know who you are)

Can it fit my phone?
The Pro Cage is designed for the largest phones on the market. The iPhone 16 Pro Max, Galaxy S24 Ultra, Pixel 9 Pro XL
Last updated: September 26, 2024 09:09
Does it fit a phone with a case?
- That is a loaded question, its designed to be used with a case or without. There are absolutely exceptions
- The phone clamp opens to 85mm
- If you have an extra large case that is tight in the clamp then you can insert it at an angle into the clamp and slide it in, its probably never going to come up but you never know.

Can I use my iPhone with a lightning adapter?
Unfortunately no. We have tried a lot of hacky ways to try and get it to work but the lightning port just doesn’t allow the functionality.
Last updated: September 26, 2024 09:09
Can I use a USBC to HDMI cable?
No. USBC to HDMI cables require that the USBC port has display port functionality at its core. That is easier to implement in a phone or PC where there is more budget and processing power. If we implemented it in the cage then it would cost a lot more and be larger.
Last updated: September 26, 2024 09:09
What kind of USB PD power is on the ports?
The port labeled PD 100W is the power input. The cage can pass through PD 100W to the phone port only. The rest of the USBC ports are 5V 2A. That is enough to charge an LED light or run an SSD or power some HDMI monitors/transmitters
Last updated: September 26, 2024 09:09
Can I repair the device?
YES! Please do! If you break a port or drop it in a lake and you want to open it up and fix it then please do. We do not offer support for this but an electronics repair shop might be able to help out.

I want to use an external monitor with a Samsung Galaxy phone with Dex
- Sweet! You will probably want to disable Dex while using the monitor. You can turn it back on later
- In the settings search for “Dex”
- Turn off “auto start when HDMI is connected”

How long does the cage last on battery?
This is a simple question with a complicated answer, it depends on everything + We have found that with an iPhone 15 pro ultra and a Samsung T7 SSD and a 10000mah battery we can get about 10 hours of filming while keeping the phone fully charged. + An SSD draws 1w to 5w on average + Different phones draw different amounts of power and background apps matter + The best way to answer this question is to try your setup and record how long its running with the devices you are using. If you need more power than the phone can provide or if you want to shoot longer then adding a battery is the best solution.
Last updated: September 26, 2024 09:09
How much power should a battery provide?
The cage can do passthrough charging up to 100W (20V 5A). That is well beyond what most modern smartphones can use. + The cage will not be damaged if you use a battery with higher power output. + The phone will negotiate how much power it needs from the cage and the cage will negotiate how much power it needs from the battery if one is plugged in.
We find the sweet spot of batteries to be 10000mah and 22.5w for most common setups + You can go as big or as small as you want. There are many great V-Mount batteries with USB-C output but they start to get fairly heavy depending on how much capacity you need.
USBC will negotiate the exact power required and only draw that amount + I.e. If you use 240W battery but the cage is only asking for 30W then the battery will only provide 30W and everything will balance out.
You have to really try to mess up USBC charging because its managed by multiple layers of charging monitor ICs and it will typically just shut down if it detects something that is not right.

PD 100W passthrough charging
- You can run the hub at 100W passthrough charging with a 100% duty cycle and not need to worry about anything.
- Most phones can only draw 15 to 45W of power, Yes we know there are exceptions.
- Most laptops draw between 30 to 140W, This works fine up to 100W, any laptop that can charge at 140W will charge fine at 100W, just a little slower.
Last updated: September 26, 2024 09:13
What HDMI cables are compatible?
- The HDMI port is Type A (Standard / Full size)
- You need to use a cable that is designed for a monitor as most of the cables that come with monitors have smaller ends than you will find with TV HDMI cables
- The end of the cable Housing (not the metal port itself) needs to be 18mm wide and 18mm long.

Is the SuperCage rad?
Yes.
Last updated: September 26, 2024 09:13
Is there a battery included in the hub?
No there is not, this is for a number of reasons. + Shipping batteries integrated into products increases the costs and complexity of shipping significantly + The cage is so customizable that if we did choose a battery to integrate its highly likely that it would not be the right battery for you + We cant make batteries that are as cheap and robust as what is already on the market. Especially with new battery technology getting lighter and cheaper its not something that you want to be locked into + Transporting the cage on public transportation like airplanes becomes a lot more complicated with batteries integrated in

Does SuperCage work with a gimbal?
Lets define the lens axis as Z and if you are looking at the screen, that is X-Y. Most cameras with lenses are heavy and big along Z axis and their volume is rather compact in the X-Y. Super cage is really light and short in the Z and has a large volume in the X-Y. Its just the shape of phones, don’t hate the messenger. Gimbals are great at balancing traditional camera shapes and even fairly heavy setups. Our cage is light but all its weight and volume are in the wrong direction.
We have tried the DJI RS4 Pro and it works pretty well with a typical SSD and battery and T-Series Moment lenses. It has much stronger motors that can support the load. Anything smaller is just not up to the task.

Can I save Apple LOG 4K 60FPS to SD card?
Yes but with some very heavy caveats. + You have to be using a UHS-II v90 SD card + We tested with multiple samples of two very specific SD cards throughout all our development + The ones we used: + OWC Atlas Ultra v90 512mb + Sabrent Rocket v90 128mb + Other cards might work but some certainly do not! Just because it has the correct write speed does not mean that its accurate. We will keep testing cards as we can but you will need to use your own validation to make sure that its right for you. + Most SD cards that you already have are very likely not fast enough for 4K60FPS. They will probably still work fine for lower codecs and resolutions

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
